L’agence SBBT Architecture fondée par Sophie Berthelier et Benoît Tribouillet en 2008 a livré une école maternelle colorée pour la ville de Barjouville. Le projet se développe sur 1 095 m2 pour un montant de 2,5 millions d’euros.
Contexte et implantation
Barjouville est une ville de 1 700 habitants située au Sud de Chartres, dans l’Eure-et-Loir. L’enjeu du projet est de concevoir à une école maternelle qui s’adosse à deux bâtiments existants, à savoir l’école élémentaire Yann Arthus-Bertrand et la Salle des Fêtes de Barjouville.
Le site peu visible depuis la rue, est desservie au nord et au sud par de petites rues de village. Le projet se situe au cœur de l’îlot, fort étendu, délimité par des maisons individuelles. Le projet abrite trois salles de classes, une salle de motricité, une bibliothèque, un dortoir ainsi qu’un restaurant scolaire qui reçoit également les élèves de l’école primaire Yann Arthus-Bertrand.
Des maisons colorées en guise d’école
Pour loger le programme de l’école maternelle Nicolas Vanier, les architectes de SBBT Architecture ont conçu six maisons colorées reliées entre-elles. Les architectes ont cherché à rassurer les enfants avec une morphologie connue et qu’ils dessinent. Les maisons reprennent la forme de toiture à 2 pans des maisons environnantes.
L’extension créer se positionne à l’Est des bâtiments existants, distante des deux bâtiments existants, elle permet de conserver la percée visuelle du site. L’espace généré au milieu des équipements permet de loger la cour de récréation de l’école maternelle.
Outre le caractère éducatif du projet, la salle de motricité a également pour vocation d’offrir un espace complémentaire à la salle des fêtes de Barjouville.
Les bâtiments sont éclairés par des percements de formes diverses et par les pignons vitrés qui soulignent la forme de la toiture. À l’intérieur, c’est le bois qui prévaut avec des habillages phoniques.
Un jeu de couleur en façade
La singularité de l’école maternelle Nicolas Vanier tient de sa matérialité. 12 000 tuiles Volnay® et 6 000 bardeaux Zephir® Evolution ont été posés sur la charpente et les premurs en bois par la société Dufoix entreprise. Les tuiles et bardeaux de chez Terreal utilisent 6 nuances de teintes, à savoir le violet égyptien, le vert de gris, le gris clair, le noir marine et le bronze. La couleur prédominante étant un émaillé acier. Le traitement spécifique de la terre cuite offre des reflets dorés et colorés grâce à son aspect métallisé. Afin d’offrir une harmonie de traitement entre la toiture et les façades, les bardeaux Zephir® Evolution ont été redécoupé en usine.
Dans la revue du fabricant de terre cuite, Frédéric Giroux, maître d’ouvrage délégué SAEDEL explique : « peu habituées à ce type de finitions, les gens se questionnent sur le matériau : est-ce du métal, de la résine ? Il faut toucher la façade, sentir les aspérités sous le vernissage, pour identifier la terre cuite dont la nature brute et la matérialité sont préservées. ». Le maire de Barjouville, Jean-François Lelarge ajoute : « La terre cuite émaillée a un autre atout de taille pour nous mandataires, elle est auto-nettoyante. Les saletés qui pourraient s’y déposer glissent avec la pluie et le bâtiment retrouve instantanément son éclat. Donc pas d’entretien ! ».
Choix techniques et environnementaux
Du côté environnemental, l’école maternelle de Barjouville est équipée d’une chaudière gaz mutualisée avec l’école primaire. Le confort climatique est complété par une ventilation double-flux dimensionnée par le bureau d’études Saison Paragot.
