Le projet que l’agence danoise CF Møller Architects a livré cette année est un bel exemple de la mutualisation de ressources que peut faire une ville. Le Hjertet d’Ikast (« Hjertet » signifie cœur en danois) rassemble dans un même lieu, une salle de sport, un équipement scolaire, une salle polyvalente et festive, des bureaux municipaux ainsi que des commerces et une galerie d’exposition.
Contexte et enjeux du projet
Il y a quelques années, l’école internationale Ikast-Brande commence à souffrir d’un manque d’espace, l’idée d’agrandir l’école se fait sentir. Toutefois, l’un des enjeux d’une école internationale est de réussir l’intégration de ses étudiants au sein de la culture locale et de ses habitants.
La municipalité cherche ainsi à aller plus loin que de construire une simple extension d’école. La ville d’Ikast a alors identifié les besoins de ses habitants pour créer un lieu central qui répond au plus grand nombre. Au total, 35 groupes d’utilisateurs ont été identifiés qui vont des sportifs, aux musiciens en passant les patients d’un centre de psychiatrie. L’enjeu de la municipalité est de créer un lieu qui optimise chacun de ces besoins. Ainsi, la salle de sport peut à la fois servir pour les scolaires la journée mais aussi pour des clubs de sport le soir. Dans le même esprit, les salles de cours utilisées par l’école le matin servent d’ateliers d’arts l’après-midi et le soir pour les associations locales.
La ville d’Ikast compte près de 15 000 habitants, elle se situe au cœur du pays, à 70km d’Aarhus. Le terrain choisi par la mairie jouxte les équipements scolaires existants à savoir, l’école internationale Ikast-Brande, un collège et un lycée.
Projet architectural de CF Møller Architects
L’enjeu architectural est de créer un bâtiment qui soit perçu comme un lieu de rassemblement et non un lieu où l’on vient dépenser son temps et son argent comme le sont les centres-commerciaux ou les salles de sports franchisées. C’est ainsi que le projet adopte une morphologie proche de la superposition de maison, un moyen de montrer que cet équipement est la maison de tous. Le traitement en bardage bois du projet est volontairement prolongé en toiture afin d’unifier un programme dont les usages sont très variés.
Le projet se développe autour d’un forum central, ce dernier vient distribuer l’ensemble des salles et équipements à la fois horizontalement mais aussi verticalement. Cet espace, comme dans beaucoup de projets nordiques, associe la circulation verticale à des espaces de contemplation, de lectures à travers des gradins disposés de manières aléatoires.
À l’intérieur, le traitement du bois est repris pour gérer l’acoustique du bâtiment. Les lamelles aident aussi à différencier les espaces de par leur utilisation ponctuelle dans le forum. L’intérieur invite également un nouveau matériau, la brique crème dont la coloration se place entre les plaques de plâtre et le bois, un moyen de rester dans une ambiance claire et de préserver la réflexion de la lumière naturelle. Les briques outre leurs caractères porteurs dans la construction, laissent entrevoir la fonction et l’occupation des espaces intermédiaires qui rythme d’intérieur du bâtiment. Ces espaces, accessibles à tous, ont pour objectif de recevoir chaque personne, que ce soit des retraités ou des collégiens. Les architectes ont ainsi matérialisé la rencontre intergénérationnelle, un moyen pour chaque individu de sortir de sa zone de confort ou plus vraisemblablement de l’étendre.
À l’étage, les différentes salles permettent d’accueillir des activités plus légères, telle que le yoga ou la danse. Il accueille aussi des locaux pour conseiller les jeunes de la ville.
Projet paysager
Le projet s’insère dans un parc paysager abritant différentes aires d’activités tel une aire de skate, des terrains de beach volley, des terrains de pétanque, une aire de pique-nique ou encore des emplacements pour des feux de camp. La conception du parc a été réalisée de manière à créer un cercle vertueux dans l’utilisation de ceux-ci et drainer les usagers vers le cœur du projet.
